Russo’s latest stunt ‘takes the cake!’

Dear Editor:

I have been following the Hoboken traffic diversion story with great bafflement. Most recently, our county prosecutor has indicated that he will give approval to a plan to divert traffic from 14th Street in Hoboken up the Viaduct. All erudite readers of this newspaper know this is just an attempt by Mayor Russo to garner a few extra voters in the upcoming election, a desperate move. Those of us who have lived in Hudson County for sometime are all too familiar with Mayor Russo’s stunts. However, this latest work of unconstitutionality takes the cake. I can only hope that our neighbors in Hoboken bake Mayor Russo a retirement cake and serve it to him on election day.

Of a more immediate concern to anyone who drives the viaduct is the condition of the road. Anyone who has driven up the viaduct over the last several months can tell you that the road has a striking similarity to the craters of the moon! In case our elected officials haven’t gotten out of their homes lately, I refer specifically to the stretch of road leading south towards Jersey City). Perhaps, before approving a plan to divert even more traffic up the viaduct, our County officials (pay attention Mr. Janiszewski, this requires your assistance) should have this road repaired so that it isn’t a safety and property hazard.
