Shades of Florida fiasco

Dear Editor:

I read the recent article in the Reporter about our ineffective, invisible and self-serving Senator Bernard Kenny and his bill regarding absentee ballots.

The Senator does not mention how he won elections with help from absentee ballots and how his team of supporters are the same individuals who have given absentee ballots a bad name. And he conveniently forgot to mention that his bill would make it harder for senior citizens to cast their votes.

Voting by absentee ballot gives individuals their privilege to vote because of illness, nature of employment, vacations, the permanently disabled and those serving in our military. Is the Senator attempting to deprive these individuals of their right to vote?

During the presidential election our party was preaching in Florida to let every vote count. As a Hoboken Senior Citizen, I oppose Senator Kenny’s attempt to take my right to vote away from me!
