Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel

Dear Editor:

Our Mayor’s contributions to our city have been so extensive it would seem almost impossible to encompass them all in just one administration. Mayor Anthony Russo has grown to lead effectively, shouldering countless burdens with unfailing commitment. There are no reasons to deny any longer what was our obligation to rebuild a once abandoned community.

Anthony Russo, Nellie Moyeno, Steve Hudock and Jim Fitzsimmons have devoted themselves to this noble goal. Those of us who can recollect a once forgotten city now hail its worldwide acclaim. Today, Hoboken is recognized as a shining jewel, and Mayor Russo has exceeded our expectations with unparalleled success and proven results.

Upon entering office, he had not only an arduous task of putting the city’s finances in order, but a responsibility to do so while stabilizing taxes. He’s lived up to that commitment. Today, our city government remains committed to resolving complex circumstances, and his leadership is being put to a severe test.

Our Mayor and council at-large team have been the guiding force throughout these vital, formative years. And while the Mayor’s critics proclaim to be taking the high road, those same critics never hesitate to engage in the politics of innuendo and personal destruction themselves. They offer no solutions–and yet, they exploit their own “lack of accomplishments” for publicity stunts and political rhetoric.

What was once a neglected town is now a thriving community. Repeatedly, Anthony Russo, Nellie Moyeno, Steve Hudock and Jim Fitzsimmons have tackled these issues and have strived to make Hoboken a place we can be proud to call our home.

We’re fortunate to live in a city unrivaled with economic opportunity. These are good times in Hoboken–good, but not perfect. The fortune that has brought us this far has brought us part of the way to fulfilling the dreams of our residents and our children.

The Russo Team has seen no issue too difficult to tackle, nor any dilemma too complex to successfully overcome. I haven’t always agreed with them politically, but I recognize their devotion to our city. For these reasons and more, I ask that you help keep Hoboken alive and moving forward.
