Same problem, different day

Dear Editor:

An open letter to Mayor Anthony Russo:

Firstly, I would like to express my appreciation for your timely response to Robert Plotka’s letter (Hoboken Reporter, Feb. 11, “Driving in Hoboken is safe, but we’ll make it safer.”) Your reply outlines several areas around the city where various measures are being implemented to address the issue of traffic and public safety; which you cited as a priority for your Administration.

Perhaps you would consider adding the intersections of Harrison and Paterson Streets, (south side of Paterson Street in front of the Academy Bus Company building) to the list of public safety issue for the pedestrians of the west side of Hoboken.

I am sure the residents of the Hoboken Housing Authority would appreciate your consideration for their safety as they cross the intersections of Harrison and Paterson Streets, as stated in my letter approximately one year ago in the April 11, 2000, edition of The Hoboken Reporter. This safety issue still exists today.

Your response would be appreciated.

Carrie Gilliard, President
Hoboken Chapter NAACP
