Thanks be to… What locals are grateful for this season

It’s that time of year again, when the weather is freezing, the malls are packed and food seems to be everywhere. But despite all the frostbite, aggravation and weight gain, these few months are also a joyful time of togetherness and thanksgiving. This is what a few Weehawken residents are thankful for this holiday season.

Jeremy Hamilton
“I’m thankful for good health, family and friends. I’m really thankful for what my parents have done for me and how they raised me.”

Parks Supervisor Robert Barsa
“I’m thankful for my health, being an American, good friends and good employees. I love life. I thank God for everything I have like a great wife and mother. And I’m really thankful for a [football] win against Secaucus.”

Miguel Nieves, 17
“I’m thankful that I was able to give food to the poor through my church last week. I’m thankful to my mom who works hard to pay rent, pay the bills and to by food. And I’m thankful that I can spend time with my family this year, because we’re having a family reunion in Pennsylvania.”

Ivelisse Rodriguez, 12
“I’m thankful for my family, my friends, for my school, my older brother and my teachers. I’m thankful for my clothes that keep me warm, for my home that shelters me and for the food that feeds me. And I’m thankful that I’m alive and that I’m a good person.”

Chase Figaro, 17
“I’m thankful for my family, football, my friends, my health and my family’s health. I’m thankful that my parents are getting me a car. I’m thankful I get to spend time with my family over the holidays. But what I’m really thankful for is that we get days off, and I can sleep instead of going to school early in the morning.”
