Geri put in the time; Geri deserves the pay

Dear Editor:

Councilman Dave Roberts seems to take pleasure in depriving city workers of wages and benefits that were earned by them. What else could explain his recent actions against city employees?

Now, he has decided to attack the Coordinator of Cultural Affairs. Specifically, he questioned hours for Geri Fallo. As anyone in Hoboken knows, Geri has created many of the fine cultural events that we all enjoy, such as the Fall and Spring Arts & Music Festivals, Music in the Parks; Movies Under the Stars, art tours, holiday craft shows and much, much more.

Dave Roberts and his fellow council obstructionists, Ruben Ramos and Tony Soares, made a big mistake voting against Geri Fallo. With Councilwoman Rosanne Andreula abstaining on the payroll vote because she objected on another matter, the payroll was not approved. Geri Fallo works extremely hard, night and day, to produce quality cultural events in Hoboken. Just because Geri had to work through a weekend and earned some overtime pay doesn’t give Roberts and his cohorts the right to publicly smear her and suggest she isn’t deserving of being paid for her work.

The actions of Roberts, Ramos and Soares only reinforce the fact that they operate politically, with their responsibilities to govern as an afterthought. Shame on them, Geri works hard for the residents of our city.
