The Hispanic National Bar Association NJ Region, The Essex County Bar Association and The Hudson County Bar Association are teaming up to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by hosting an Arts and Education Reception at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Honored guests will include Latin music legends Celia Cruz and North Bergen resident Johnny Pacheco, and the master of ceremonies will Raphael Pi Roman of WNET channel 13. All the proceeds of this charity event will benefit Hispanic law students.
The coordinator of the reception is HNBA Regional President Ramon de la Cruz, a New Jersey attorney and a Guttenberg resident.
“The purpose is to raise funds for Hispanic law students, who are all pretty much financially needy,” said de la Cruz last week. “But we’re also trying to get all kinds of professionals to attend the reception, so we can have a diverse crowd. We’re proud to be honoring Celia Cruz and Johnny Pacheco, and we’re thankful to all of our sponsors.”
Corporate sponsors of the event include Chase Bank, Continental Airlines, Lowenstein Sandler, Merck Co., PNC Bank, Presidential Caterers, PSE&G, Schering Plough, Summit Bank and Corporate Marketing Solutions. The reception will feature a premium open bar, a variety of Latin cuisine and background Salsa music provided by NPAC. The event will take place at the NJPAC Chase Banquet Hall in Newark from 6 to 9 p.m. The cost is $60 per person, and reservations need to be made in advance by Oct. 3.
Reservations can be sent by mail to HNBA-NJ Region c/o Law Office of Ramon de a Cruz, at 432 Broad Ave., Ridgefield, NJ 07657. Checks are to be made payable to HNBA-NJ Region.
