Dear Editor: Once again the anti-progress gang is on the march, this time against the 120-condo pier project in the Shipyard. A project, I might add, that gives the public more access to the river, new tennis and handball courts, over $1 million in tax revenues for the city, extends the river walkway and greatly improves the environment. Who are the anti-progress gang? That same band of defeated candidates for public office, misguided public officials who at one time supported 33-story residential towers on Pier A and left the city with a $22 million deficit, former school board members who increased your taxes and a professional litigator who cost the city and companies who want to invest in Hoboken thousands of dollars in legal fees. What have these people produced for Hoboken and you? Absolutely nothing but chaos and continual public wrangling. They pose as do-gooders, environmentalists and civic activists. The truth of the matter is that if we had listened to them, Hoboken would still be a run-down, economically deprived town that residents were fleeing in droves just 10 years ago.
