Vicious person went too far

Dear Editor: For twenty four years of my life, my family and I have put up with political mudslinging and slanderous rumors about my father both in the political field and in his personal life. We learned to take these harsh lies and disregard them. In the last two years, this political mudslinging became vicious! Ill will wishes on my father and my family were both sent to my home by mail, and sent through the infamous Hoboken rumor mill. Again, we dismissed these terrible acts.. Today, Tuesday, March 21, 2000 is the day I stop disregarding these things. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a caring person and would never make a slanderous remark about anyone, friend or foe. I also have never publicly voiced my opinions during any political campaign regarding my father or candidates that he supported. But again, today this will change. I must voice my opinion. For the past week we have been receiving a tremendous amount of mail all wishing my father well. Tonight my mother opened a card with no return address but, postmarked from Paterson, NJ. When she opened the card, it read “what goes around comes around, this time it’s your turn.” For that person who perhaps works in Paterson only you know who you are. My family and I will pray for your soul! I can no longer pretend these ill wishes on my family do not occur, because they do and have for quite some time. Although my father has disagreed with people politically, he nor my mother have ever wished such things on anyone. To you, his political opposition, your wishes did not come true, my father is still alive and is still the Mayor! Michael S. Russo
