No lullaby on Broadway; New stores give life to shopping district

There was a time when North Bergen’s strip of Broadway was simply a forgotten soul among the township’s main roads. There was Bergenline Avenue to the west and Boulevard East to the east, and Broadway, sitting in the middle, was lost. It didn’t have an identity, a true flavor. And businesses seemed to depart and not come back. However, last year, the township made a concerted effort to revitalize the main thoroughfare. The street was re-paved and new sidewalks were put in. There was an effort to try to encourage new businesses to consider setting up shop on Broadway. Resident Fidel Hernandez noticed the positive activity.
