Dear Editor: Union City Commissioner Tina Yandolino deserves high praise for her performance as Commissioner in charge of the Department of Public Works. Tina has not only broken the stereotype and perception of “only a male can handle public works” but she has done it with pizzazz, efficiency and class. The snow removal operation during the last snow storm was magnificent, timely and thorough. Even better, she and Mayor Rudy Garcia had the foresight to have the city purchase new vehicles and snowplows in anticipation of a long cold winter. Public Works Director Sergio Panunzio and his entire crew are also to be commended. We may have had a small tax increase lately, but at least it has been accompanied by good leadership, smart planning, better service and benefits to the residents of Union City. George Garretson
