Dear Editor: I read with much surprise and disbelief in the Hoboken Reporter about Councilman David Roberts’ “challenge” for someone to point out a time that he ever maligned anyone. I’m surprised that he would issue such a challenge, because I know firsthand how David has a tendency to talk about other people behind their backs. For example, I remember him telling me and others things about the personal life of Senator Bernard Kenny, which I will not repeat here, but, certainly were personal and not flattering. This hypocritical councilman continues to cry like a baby and cast accusations, like he is some kind of savior to our city, when everyone who knows him understands that he relishes the opportunity to pick on people. When he served as councilman under former under Mayor Patrick Pasculli, David used to express his frustration and would personally malign the mayor behind his back. He has even taken personal pot shots at his own “friends” such as making fun of Councilman Tony Soares and Phyllis Spinelli, while also poking fun at Councilman DelBoccio and even the children on the award winning Hoboken Recreation Cheerleaders. David Roberts is so full of himself these days. If only the public could have seen him over his 15 years on the Council. He used to praise Pasculli, yet spoke viciously about him to me and others. He used to praise me and my husband, but this was before he decided we couldn’t help his political aspirations for higher office. Just remember how he voted for every single budget and tax increase over the years, yet he voted against the recent budget, which includes a 20 percent reduction in municipal taxes. David, we all see right through you. You have maligned people. Just ask those named above. Word has surely come back to each of them about your insecure nature. Michele Russo
