Horn Blowing Ordinance blows mind of resident

Dear Editor: On January 24, I read an article about our new horn blowing ordinance. I guess councilpersons Cricco and Del Boccio are concerned with the quality of life for the residents of Hoboken. Please give me a break. If they walked or rode their bike around Hoboken instead of Jersey City, this is what you would see and hear– jackhammers at every construction site, metal containers being dropped off and picked up, halting traffic, cranes lifting supplies to our oversized buildings, pile drivers banging poles into the ground all day long, buildings being gutted with dust flying all over the city and construction equipment being operated all day producing fumes that are inhaled by men, women, children and our senior citizens. Both of you stood and approved the demolition of the Girl Scout House and Health Center at 916 Garden Street. The people of the neighborhood were lied to about the height of the building, the material used for the construction of the building and the design of the building. Both of you were silent when a liquor license was approved for the sale of liquor across from Elysian Park where our children and grandchildren play. Both of you were silent when that liquor license was transferred right next to the Little League Field and Soccer Field where our children and grandchildren play. The city of Hoboken has been destroyed by overdevelopment while the both of you sit and watch in silence. If you ever decide to leave the uptown section of Hoboken for a tour of our once beautiful city, then you may realize that Hoboken isn’t Hoboken anymore, thanks to elected officers like you. As far as your horn blowing ordinance, I have two words for you. Honk! Honk! Tom Kennedy Sr.
