HHA tenants whiny, lazy

Dear Editor: The tenants’ meeting of the Hoboken Housing Authority, as reported by the Hoboken Reporter, stood as a testament to the incompetency of an ideology that would sanction the HHA and public housing in general. To deride late fees for non-payment of rent and additional fees for the operation of electrical appliances as “unconstitutional” clearly illustrates the mind set held by a class of people that owes its existence to the enshrined government handout. A culture that slams the door shut on educated immigrants fleeing economic and political oppression in regimes hostile to their persons shouldn’t play Pavlov’s dog to those that have failed to take advantage of the opportunities available to them as US citizens. Hoboken is a wealthy enough community to wean itself away from HUD’s teat. My advice to the leaders of the city is to ignore the whining of HHA residents, and wait a few decades for the opportunity to bulldoze the projects and replace them with a park, a cemetery or something else that is less of an eyesore for the taxpayers that live in the west end of town. In the meantime, perhaps HHA residents will go away or grow up. T. Jones
