Disappointed in board’s proposal for new high school location

Dear Editor: We are writing to express our dismay over the North Bergen Board of Education’s proposal to build a new high school in the North Hudson County Park (Braddock Park). We are new residents of North Bergen and chose it over other towns in large part because of the beautiful park. As parents and as one of us is a former teacher, we are also very concerned over the school overcrowding in North Bergen and will support any reasonable proposal for a new high school, but our parkland is precious and must be preserved. Surely there is another way to satisfy the needs of our school children without reducing the few acres of open land that we have in Hudson County, the most densely populated in our state. We should all be working together to find that solution. Sal and Judith Barzilay
