Korean War Vets Museum and Library established

Dear Editor: In August of 1997, a group of Korean War veterans and interested citizens met and resolved that the Korean War would no longer be overlooked, ignored or forgotten. An organizational meeting was held and the foundation for the Korean War Veterans National Museum and Library was established. The project will include a museum, a library and a convention center. The museum will have several galleries, including a Korea 1950-53 Gallery, a Gold Star Gallery, a Korea Today Gallery and a Discover Korea Room. The research library will provide student and researchers access to videos, map, documents, books and other educational materials. In addition, the library will contain full-length interviews with Korean War veterans, DMZ veterans and others directly affected by the war. In the convention center, those who were touched by the war and the war’s aftermath will come together to share memories, and to reminisce and reflect. The Korean War Veterans National Museum and Library will be a lasting tribute, one that will educate all generations about “the forgotten war,” and the contributions that American forces and United Nation forces made to protect democracy. We invite you to become a charter member of our non-profit organization and take an active role in our project which honors the dedication, fortitude and gallantry of American and other U.N. forces. Consider having your reunion in Tuscola, Illinois, the future site of the Korean War Veterans National Museum and Library. For more information, call our office at (217) 253-5813, e-mail us at kwmuseum@advancenet.net, or visit our web site at www.theforgottenvictory.org. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
