Council vote on settlement with Hoboken Shipyard developers postponed

HOBOKEN — A discussion and vote planned for Wednesday night’s council meeting in Hoboken have been postponed until Nov. 14.
The discussion was to cover a settlement recently reached by the city of Hoboken with the developers of the Shipyard property on the north waterfront. In exchange for keeping open space on the waterfront, the developers can build more densely on the west side of town at 800 Monroe St. — if the City Council approves the settlement.
Development issues are often controversial in Hoboken, however.
The city released this update: “City Council President has removed the settlement agreement from the Wednesday November 2nd meeting in order to provide the Council and the public with additional time to understand all the facts prior to the Council voting on the matter. The agreement is scheduled to be considered at the November 14th meeting.”
