77, of Bayonne, passed away on September 22, 2016, at the Bayonne Medical Center. Gene was born in Bayonne and has resided there all his life. After a career in the printing trade, Gene began his service to the City of Bayonne in 1994 by joining the Health Department until his retirement in 2009. Later in life he began a 13 year coaching career with the Bayonne Little League and assisted other local youth basketball, soccer and swim programs. He is a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, serving in both the third and fourth degree. He played a key role in establishing the “Knights of Honor” program which annually recognizes outstanding work by police officers, firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians. He also served as a trustee on the Knights of Columbus Holding Company and served as their Vice President. In 2012 he was honored by the Police Emerald Society as their Person of the Year. He was also a member of the Order of the Alhambra – #154 El Jarrow. Husband of the late Barbara A. (nee O’Hare).
