JERSEY CITY — Whoopi Goldberg came to Jersey City this week. ‘I curated a Marilyn Monroe exhibit at Mana Contemporary,” Goldberg said in a Facebook post. “Thanks to these folks for allowing me to be part of this family.”
The exhibit is called “Marilyn: Character Not Image,” which opens to the public on Sunday, and among its features is the gown Marilyn Monroe wore when she sang to President John F. Kennedy her version of “Happy Birthday to You” on May 19, 1962.
Goldberg helped kick off the month-long show and spoke about her feelings about some of Monroe’s films.
The exhibit includes drawings from Monroe’s drawings and a variety of videos of that feature her reading of her poetry.
