To the Editor:
I’ve written several letters earlier this year about the potential that Bayonne has. It’s a safe, affordable place to live that is in close proximity to places with a lot of economic opportunity. Our city leaders know this too and have been doing their part to make it even better.
But just as our Constitution requires checks and balances, the same can be said for city management. Without a unified presence to ensure that our city government is making the best decisions, we may not have the kind of opportunity that we deserve. We need to make sure that they are not just making good decisions, but are making the best and most strategic decisions for the future of Bayonne.
The Republican Party in Bayonne is and should be that check on power, and we welcome all to join our ranks. Because it’s not about how you may feel regarding certain social issues – those are not what define a party. It’s about working with those in power to provide a determined and thoughtful alternative set of ideas.
The Democratic Party is crowded. If you want to have a say in what happens in this town, joining the Bayonne Republican Club is your chance. We will meet the third Tuesday of every month on the second floor of Hendrickson’s, beginning on Tuesday, September 20 at 7 p.m. Hope to see you there!
