A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Saint Anne’s, Garwood, Aug. 18, for John A. Serpico, 93, of Clark. He passed away Aug. 14 at the Clark Rehabilitation Center. John was born and spent most of his life in Jersey City and only recently moved to Clark to be closer to his family. John leaves behind his wife for 66 years, Rose M. Serpico. He was predeceased by his brother, Dominick, and his four sisters, Constance, Delcie, Mary Grace (Mullin), Isabelle (DeFilippo). He is survived by two sons, John and James, three daughters-in-law, Christine, Cheryl, and Francine, two loving grandsons Alexander and John and his wife Kim, loving granddaughter, Gina Folgar and her husband Gabe, and many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. John was a devoted Roman Catholic, was active in The Boy Scouts of St. Aloysius and the IBEW of Western Electric. He also served in the Pacific theatre during World War II as a US Marine, 3rd Marine Division, 16th anti-aircraft group. John adored his three grandchildren, who were the loves of his life, and was looking forward to the arrival of his first great-granddaughter in December. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and rooting for his New York Giants.
