Funeral services were held for Maria Kiriakatos, 85, formerly of Jersey City. She passed away Aug. 15. Maria was born in the seaside village of Katelios, Kefalonia, Greece. Here she met her husband Spiro and raised their children, Dennis and Joanna. Maria and Spiro moved their family to Jersey City in 1969. They became well known as the owners of Jerry’s Laundromat in downtown Jersey City. Maria worked hard in the family business for over 25 years and became friends with many neighbors and patrons. She would also cherish spending time with her children and five grandchildren. Maria was the wife of the late Spiro Kiriakatos; mother of Dennis Kiriakatos and Joanna Katsilianos; grandmother of Lemonia N. Katsilianos, Michael, Nicholas, Joseph and Angelica Kiriakatos; sister of Elefteria Tambakis, Spiro and Andrew Pantelios. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
