A funeral mass was celebrated Aug. 11 at Immaculate Conception Church, Secaucus, for Ellen Czaplinski, 83. She passed away Aug. 7 at Hackensack University Medical Center surrounded by her family. Ellen was born to Thomas and Catherine Brennan and resided in Jersey City where she lived for 42 years before moving to Secaucus. She was employed for 29 years as a receptionist with the Hudson County Probation Department retiring in 2014. Ellen was past shop steward and vice president of CWA Union 1045 for the Hudson County Probation Department.
She was predeceased by her husband Stanley Czaplinski in 1997, and her sisters Ann Marcinkiewicz, Irene Scocco, Dorothy Artificio, Corrine Urbanowitz, and Marie Rios. Surviving her are her son Stanley “Baron” Czaplinski (Mary) of Vineland, and her daughter Debbie Zapoluch of Secaucus; a brother; Thomas Brennan (Elizabeth) of Virginia; five grandchildren, Dana, Chad and Drue Zapoluch and Alex and Sean Czaplinski, and a great granddaughter, Scarlett Czaplinski, and her furry beloved animals Brooke, Diggie, and Mookie. She was known for her sense of humor and her kind generosity.
