Funeral mass was offered May 26 at St. Francis Church, Hoboken, for Orlando Addeo, 96, a lifelong Hoboken resident and former chairman of the Hoboken Housing Authority board of trustees. He passed away at the Alaris Health Center in Jersey City on May 24. A U.S. veteran of WWII, he served in the CBI Theater. Prior to his military career he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps at the age of fourteen, assisting his parents support for the family. He was a member of the Hoboken VFW, American Legion Post 107, and the Hoboken Knights of Columbus. Mr. Addeo was honored as Senior Citizen of the year in Hoboken and later for Hudson County. Orlando was a member of the St. Francis Holy Name Society most of his life and was active in athletic programs with the city of Hoboken’s youth such as the high school Red Wings and P.A.L. Football Program. Because of his dedication to sports, he was placed in the Hoboken – Demarest Hall of Fame.
He was a commissioner on the Hoboken Housing Authority for 25 years, serving ten of those years as chairman. Surviving are two sons, Vincent and Arnold, and their wives Michele and Rose; his grandchildren, Vincenzo, Enrico, Tessa, Allegra, Christopher, Matthew, and Stephanie; and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Rosalie; a son, Enrico “Ricky”; a brother, Angelo; and two sisters, Theresa and Rose.
