Agosto, Easwar rule in O.T. deadlock

Still smarting after their week one 10-2 thumping at the hands of the Devils, the Islanders geared up for their JCC of Bayonne’s Sr Division floor hockey rematch. Battling to a scoreless tie for over 30 minutes, goal tenders Harsh Easwar (Devils) and Shawn Agosto (Islanders)were certainly “in the zone” making one amazing save after another. Completing the defensive dominance, the Devils’ Alex Riboldi, Tristan Wolenski, Mariam Rasslan, and the hard driving Zachary Ciesmelewski ruled their zone while Drew Radil, Emya Irwin, Elliott Santana and Jacob Kowal bull-rushed every shooter as they dug in for the Islanders. At the 34 minute mark, the Islanders finally broke the ice as Drew Radil blasted in a power play goal off an assist from Elliott Santana. Trailing 1-0, it took a Herculean effort from the Devils’ team captain, Marek Mickiewicz to tie the bout at 1-1 by taking a pass from Alex Riboldi and slamming a net rocket at the 33 second mark to force a “sudden death” overtime period. With neither squad content with a tie, the overtime period turned into an old fashioned “donnybrook” as every player fought for that winning shot but once again it was Easwar and Agosto who had the final say as both goal tenders starred in O.T. preserving the 1-1 deadlock.

Additionally, the following players were recognized for Sr. Division Week 2
Offensive Player of the Week: Marek Mickiewicz- Devils
Defensive Player of the Week: Shawn Agosto- Islanders
Teamwork/Leadership Player of the Week: Jacob Kowal- Islanders
