Women deserve the same pay as men

Dear Editor:
Women’s earnings are ever more important to their families. More than 40 percent of children under 18 live in households where the mother is the sole breadwinner. Yet, women still earn on 79 cents to every dollar earned by men. This means that women who are often working multiple jobs and caring in many cases for children and older family members, are still not able to provide the financial support needed for their families.
It also means that many are not properly able to save for their own retirement futures.
As an AARP volunteer, I urge you to support S992, The New Jersey Pay Equity Act. Sign the Bill, Governor Chris Christie.
