Hoboken arts fest definitely on for June 12

HOBOKEN — After heavy rain cancellation (and some confusion) officials say Hoboken Arts and Music Festival will now be June 12.
After a last-minute cancellation last Sunday due to weather and some confusion surrounding the new date, the City of Hoboken says the 22nd Annual Hoboken Spring Arts and Music Festival will be held June 12.
There has been some confusion, as an online festival organizer posted a date change to May 15 for a time. Then the City of Hoboken posted online that the new date was on June 12 before a city official spoke up at Wednesday’s council meeting and said the city was now leaning toward a different date.
But on Thursday, city spokesperson Juan Melli said the new date is officially June 12.
Initial headliner Leon Russell will not be coming, though, and instead perform at the fall festival in September.
The event will take over Washington Street (between Observer Highway and Seventh Street) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with food vendors, children’s activities and more. – SR
