Hoboken architect honored

The New Jersey chapter of the American Institute of Architects has announced that Dean Marchetto has been elevated to the American Institute of Architects’ prestigious College of Fellows.
The fellowship program was developed to honor architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society, and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession, according to a news release.
The program recognizes architects in several categories, including outstanding service to the profession, service to the community, design, architectural education and career or volunteer excellence beyond the built environment.
Marchetto, the founder of Marchetto Higgins Stieve Architects PC, specializes in mixed-use multifamily residential projects designed to restore New Jersey’s downtowns with projects ranging from three to 40 stories, the news release said.

Influence on Hoboken

Since starting the firm in 1982, Marchetto has played a major role in the resurgence of Hudson County, with a portfolio that includes work on more than 100 multifamily buildings in Hoboken alone.
“The AIA has been a constant guiding light in my effort to practice in this profession at the highest level,” said Marchetto, a 35-year member of AIA. “I want to sincerely thank my friends and colleagues at the New Jersey Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the Architects League of Northern New Jersey for their encouragement and support in my career and my elevation to the College of Fellows.”
Out of a total AIA membership of 87,000, there are just a few thousand distinguished with the honor of fellowship and honorary fellowship. The 2016 fellows will be honored at an investiture ceremony at the 2016 National AIA Convention and Design Exposition in Philadelphia.
