Hoboken Fire Department proves they don’t just rescue cats

HOBOKEN – Nope, the Hoboken Fire Department doesn’t just save cats from trees. And they proved it Tuesday morning.

Minutes after a call was made of a dog standing on a ledge of an apartment on the 1200 block of Washington Street, the Fire Department climbed up and rescued him.

“Skipper broke through a screen then decided to enjoy the nice weather from the veranda,” city spokesperson Juan Melli said.

Skipper, according to Melli, was not aggressive — presumably due to the tranquil views of the city in spring.

This isn’t the first such incident. In the 1990s, the Fire Department rescued a shar pei named Susie who had walked onto a ledge near Ninth and Washington.
