Arias, McCall surge Dragons to playoff win

It’s time to put a season’s worth of hard work to the test as the (4-4) Dragons and the (3-5) Knights faceoff in round one of the JCC of Bayonne Indoor Soccer Jr. Divisions “ Championship Tournament”. After refueling his jets in Disney World, the Dragons’ Thomas Arias wasted no time as he racked up 6 goals in the first twenty minutes of play. Assisting on the six goal spree, Anthony Baez (2), David Matos (1), Joyce Gabrael (2), and Amy Gabrael (1) each lifting their game as the Dragons built a 6-0 advantage. Under Siege, the Knights fought their way onto the scoreboard as Chase Cohen zipped a pass to Christian Benson who drilled in a dart making it 6-1, Dragons. Hoping to gain some ground, the Knights pounded away with Michael Cordero volleying bombs while AaliyanaCifuentes, Ryan Divan, and Anthony Fraser sniped short shots on goal but the Dragons’ Brenden McCall held firm at net. With the clock winding down, the Dragons added two more goals as David Matos and Thomas Arias secured the Dragons’ 8-1 victory and a trip to the “Gold Medal” round verses the (5-3) Wizards. Inspite of the lopsided score, the Knights gave their all on the way to the “Bronze Medal”.
