Arias stars as Dragons win

Falling to (1-4), the Knights continued to search for answers as they closed out week four of their JCC of Bayonne Jr. Division Indoor Soccer campaign. Facing the league’s leading scorer, the Knights quickly fell prey to the Dragon’s scoring machine, Thomas Arias, who netted two darts in less than a minute with Amy Gabrael on both assists. Staying in the hunt, the Knights, Chase Cohen made it a 2-1 bout with a jarring goal as Michael Cordero recorded the assist. Keeping things tight for the next ten minutes, the Knights seemed to be on track with Anthony Fraser, Christian Benson, and Michael Cordero swarming the ball. The calm came to an end at the halfway point of the game as the Dragons’ offense ignited for five goals as David Matos (1 goal), Thomas Arias (3 goals), and Joyce Gabrael (1 goal) zeroed in. Assisting with the Dragons’ barrage were Brenden McCall (2 assists), Anthony Baez (2 assists), and David Matos (1 assist). Trailing 7-1, the Knights got a little boost as Aaliyana Cifuentes made it 7-2 on a penalty boot. With the victory well in hand, the Dragons’ Thomas Arias sealed the 8-2 win by nailing his 35th goal of the season.
