Bayonne chief has third highest police chief salary in state

BAYONNE – Bayonne Police Chief Drew Niekrasz is the third-highest paid police chief in New Jersey when it comes to municipal police departments, according to The Star-Ledger.
Niekrasz is paid $241,970 per year, the newspaper said.
The paper listed the top two dozen chiefs’ pay. Niekrasz is only topped by Wood-Ridge Police Chief Joseph Rutigliano at $254,660 and Carlstadt Police Chief Thomas Nielsen at $251,336, according to the paper.
Other Hudson County top cops to make the Star-Ledger list were Union City Police Chief Richard Molinari, 8th at $220,420; North Bergen Police Chief Robert Dowd, 12th at $217,919; and Kearny Police Chief John Dowie, 22nd at $200,808.
The Star-Ledger said its figures came from an analysis of state pension data. The 24 police chiefs represent those making more than $200,000 per year. The paper’s analysis did not include county chiefs, sheriffs, or college police chiefs.
