Two teenagers killed when car jumps curb at North Bergen/Union City border

NORTH BERGEN — Two teenagers died and a third entered the hospital when a vehicle ran over a curb on 26th Street near the North Bergen/Union City border Saturday night, according to media reports. The two fatally injured teens were 16 and 17, and the critically injured teen was also 17, according to the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office.
The teens were walking home from a party.
One person was arrested in connection with the incident.
The incident was reminiscent of one in November of 2014 in which two young men from Union City, 20 and 11, were hit by a driver when walking home from a movie theater near 32nd Street in North Bergen. The 20-year-old succumbed to his injuries.
People have long been concerned about some of the streets and turns in that part of the county, where drivers often go too fast.
