McMONAGLE, JOHN

92, passed away peacefully at his home in Millington on December 30, 2015. John was born in Lanarkshire, Scotland of Irish decent, and immigrated with his family as a child to Bayonne. He was part of the greatest generation and admirably served his country as a Technical Sergeant and Flight Engineer with the 450th Bombardment Group, 15th Army Air Force, Manduria, Italy, during World War II. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from NJIT and his Master’s degree in business from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was employed as a chemical engineer for Sympol for the majority of his successful career. John and Stella have enjoyed retirement for over 30 years. John was the son of Catherine and Patrick McMonagle. He was predeceased by his siblings, Patrick, Edward and Mary. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Stella (nee: Buziak). He is also survived by his niece, Catherine Durando and his nephews, Patrick, Kevin, Peter, John and Brian McMonagle and many other nieces and nephews who loved and admired him. John is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Jean Norton and Patricia Buziak. His family is grateful for the care provided by Nancy and Irene. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s name to the St. Vincent de Paul Parish, 249 Bebout Avenue, Stirling, New Jersey.
