Kowal Puts Eagles Back On Track

With the top seed in this year’s “Championship Tournament” already socked away the (8-2) Eagles kicked off their double header bout by taking on the (4-7) Bengals as the JCC of Bayonne Indoor Flag Football Sr. Division closed out its regular season. Getting off to a bumpy start the Bengals fumbled in the endzone on the games very first play for a two point safety. Up 2-0 the Eagles stormed in to make it 10-0 on a TD dart from QB Matt Miceli to Jacob Kowal followed by a Miceli to Drew Radil two point toss. Shaking off their sluggish start the Bengals clawed back to take a 12-10 lead on a TD grab and a 20 yard TD run by Andres Giron. Down by two the Eagles continued to hit their mark via the air with Miceli and Radil sharing the QB reins leading to another Kowal TD catch and a Radil two-pointer off a Miceli option pass. Using their court torching speed the Bengals tied the game at 18 all on a full court TD after Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes turned a screen pass into 6 points. The donnybrook continued as the Eagles Jacob Kowal hauled in a wire to wire TD toss followed by a two point snare making it 26-18, Eagles. It took just two plays for the Bengals to retie the bout at 26-26 as Kyle Arano zipped a TD pass to Cifuentes and a two point laser to Giron. Keeping pace the Eagles answered as Kowal notched another TD and two point catch to put the Eagles up 34-26. The Eagles then gained some breathing room as a coast to coast TD jaunt by Kowal and a two point grab by Radil gave the Eagles a 42-26 advantage. Working the ball up court with short tosses to Ian Giron and Arano the Bengals cashed in with a Kasper Hooks to Cifuentes TD strike. Up by 10 at 42-32 the Eagles defense came up big as Drew Radil picked off a pass to end a Bengals drive. Not out of the woods yet the Eagles went back on the attack with the Taylor brother, Damon and Da’mien leading the way to setup Kowal’s game clinching 6th TD and 6th expt. as the Eagles prevailed 50-32.
