MCALARNEY, CHARITA (nee: Murtha)

87, passed away on December 22, 2015 after a courageous four year battle with cancer with her loving family by her side. Born in Jersey City; Charita remained a resident there until 1996 when she moved to Bayonne. She lived in Bayonne for 16 years and relocated to Toms River in 2012. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Church, Greenville, and St. Henry’s Church, Bayonne. Charita devoted her life and love to her family and was a wonderful mother, and a hands-on Nana and Great Nana. She was also a sister to her four siblings, an aunt to her many nieces and nephews, and a friend to many. Charita was predeceased by her husband, Raymond X. McAlarney, Sr., her sister, Jeanne Murtha, her son, John McAlarney, and her parents, Agnes (nee: Currid), and Thomas Murtha. She is survived by her children, Patricia Bannon (Joseph), Maureen Healy (Timothy), Charita Palumbo (Richard), Raymond X. McAlarney, Jr., Kathleen McAlarney, and Margaret Valverde (Juan); her grandchildren, Timothy Healy (Rocio), Colleen Hooper (the late Hunter), Maura Lempa (Ryan), Kerri Hogan (Ryan), Shayna Bannon, and John and Michael Valverde; her great grandchildren, Emelie, Aidan, Liam, Timothy, Keira, Brynlee, Ryan, and Riley; and her siblings, Eileen Walker (the late Joseph), Thomas (Carole), John (Charlotte), and Margaret (Stanley Imbriaco) Murtha.
