Hoboken water update: Keep boiling; some complain of morning news ‘copters; schools open

HOBOKEN — A massive water main break that left many in Hoboken and some in Newport in Jersey City without water was still causing problems in the mile-square city Monday morning, even though service was restored Sunday night to most consumers.
As water crews worked to fix the leak at the southern entrance to town, traffic was busier at the northern end (but moving steadily). Many residents on Twitter complained about news copters hovering over town as early as 4:30.
The superintendent of the Hoboken schools sent out a note yesterday saying the schools were prepared to open. Kids who may have gotten to skip their baths don’t get to skip school. See the district website for more information.
Water was restored to most areas last night, but some reported on Twitter that it was gone again in the morning.
Officials encouraged people to boil their water for a minute before drinking or using, to be on the safe side.
