UPDATE: Crews work to fix water main break in Hoboken, state DEP visits

HOBOKEN — As flooding continued near Hoboken’s southern border on Sunday, workers from Suez Water (formerly United Water) attempted to fix a broken water main, and a state DEP truck drove around monitoring the situation.
An official on the scene late Sunday morning estimated that water would return to residents around 5 p.m., but others were not as sure.
Residents as far as a mile from the break at Harrison and Newark Avenue were unable to run their water or flush their toilets Sunday.
Officials recommended that those in the area who had running water should boil it for a minute as a precaution.
The main was bringing water from Jersey City to Hoboken.
