Dear Editor:
With Thanksgiving so close, I wanted to let all of my neighbors and friends in the Second Ward know how grateful I am for their support in the recent council election. Two months ago, I decided to run. I wanted to bring a sense of community back to the residents of the 2nd Ward. I was determined to remain focused on the issues which affect our neighborhood and put aside the petty politics that has drained the electorate. This is exactly what my campaign did and, although the results were not want we wanted, I am so proud of the campaign that was run. The outpouring of support and encouragement in the wake of the election has truly been humbling.
We began with a small team, that became more than I would have ever hoped for. Every night a different neighbor went door to door with me or attended events with me. Bringing the community 2gether was becoming a reality! I feel as if we won at the heart of the community and am so grateful to have earned the trust of many of my neighbors in the community where I grew up.
I would like to congratulate Tiffanie Fisher on being elected, and wish to reiterate my offer that I am willing to work together with her to ensure all the residents’ issues of the 2nd Ward are addressed. I would also like to thank Bonnie Murray for her run as well.
As for me, I plan to continue to serve the district students as a member of the Board of Education. As I’ve said many times, our new Superintendent Dr. Johnson is off to a great start and I look forward to working with her to make our schools the best they can be. I also look forward to working with two new colleagues elected to the board that I strongly supported during the campaign.
I am always at my city’s service and am thankful for the community!
Sincerely,
Peter Biancamano
