Let her voice be heard

Dear Editor:
As a lifelong Jersey City resident, proud JCEA member and a retired public school teacher, my concern for our city and its schools is steadfast. I believe a strong educational system is the key to improving our city. Therefore, I am supporting school board candidate Gina Verdibello, who has already established a reputation as a thoughtful, independent advocate for our students, parents and teachers. Here are a few things you should know about her: Gina and her husband Robert have three children enrolled in School 17, which speak volumes about their strong belief in Jersey City’s public schools. Gina’s attendance at every Board of Education meeting and her articulate questions and comments at these sessions have expanded and informed many policy discussions. She has also testified at State Board of Education meetings. Earlier this year, she was awarded the Parent Involvement Award by the Jersey City Board of Education. Over the summer, she organized a group of volunteers and with the approval of school administrators, painted the unsightly trailers at School 17. Gina also finds time to be a Girl Scout leader and an active member of the Board’s Early Childhood Education Committee.
There is no doubt that if elected, her work ethic, dedication, and passion for public education will benefit the Board of Education and our schools tremendously. Her voice is worth listening to, so please let her voice be heard. Join me in voting for Gina Verdibello (2D) on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Sincerely,

Monica Donnelly Moffitt Retired Jersey City Teacher
