Vote Joe Broderick for Bayonne Board of Ed

To the Editor:

He has the qualifications and integrity. He will advocate programs for students who struggle with standard school procedures. He believes, upon graduating from high school, every child must have the opportunities for a solid future, be it going to college, a technical program, or having a skill necessary to be a productive member of society in these challenging times. He will be visible at PTA meetings and receptive to the concerns of school staff and leadership groups, fostering constructive dialogue and successful outcomes for positive change. Teachers will be assured they have a representative on the board who knows, firsthand, their total dedication, commitment, and hard work on a daily basis.
Joe believes a unified board must strive to have Bayonne’s entire educational system reach its greatest potential. State officials must be held accountable. Our community deserves its fair share of funding.
Recently retired, after 45 dedicated years as an educator, the last 15 years as a vice principal of Bayonne High School afforded him the opportunity to work closely with administrators, teachers, students and parents. He has a clear perspective on meeting the demands of our school district and its students.
In Joe’s opinion, regarding the Partnership for Assessment in Readiness for Colleges and Careers, the amount of time, preparation, and procedures has to be improved, as far too many teaching hours are lost. Also, the degree of anxiety for teachers, students, and parents caused by the test must be eliminated. This test should not be connected to teacher performance. Also, our present teacher evaluation procedure, which is connected to the S.G.O, is in need of adjustment.
The 2-percent cap on municipal budgets comes from the New Jersey legislature. For it to change, the city of Bayonne would have to create a referendum to show a need. The present money has to be scrutinized and spread out in a fair method to help all.
Vote 4D. Joe Broderick is the real deal. What you see is what you’ll get. Rain or shine. Always.
