A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Oct. 13 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Avon, for Martin J. Hart, 92, of Avon By the Sea and Weehawken. He died Oct. 8, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Jersey City, Martin was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WW II. He was a graduate of St. Peter’s College, Jersey City and held his Master’s Degree in Finance. Martin was the chief financial officer of Atalanta Food Corporation, Elizabeth, retiring in 1991. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Avon. Martin is survived by his wife, of 47 years, Cecilia Schenkerberg Hart, and his three children, Martin Hart, Manassas, Va., Thomas Hart, Hoboken and Jennifer and her husband Bob Brogan, Point Pleasant. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Schiller, Neptune City. Martin was the PopPop of Thomas, Mary, Sean, Maggie, Colleen, Kelly, Bobby and Nora.
