Bayonne firefighters put out Broadway blaze

BAYONNE – City firefighters dispatched to a Broadway address quickly extinguished a kitchen fire on Oct. 5.
The Bayonne Fire Department arrived at 1016 Broadway a little after 7 p.m. and witnessed fire coming from a second floor window in the front of the building.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire that was confined to the kitchen stovetop and nearby window curtains that had come in contact with the flame, according to Fire Chief Gregory Rogers.
“The investigator determined that the fire was accidental and originated on the stovetop, and involved hot cooking oil that ignited and spread to the window curtains,” Rogers said.
There were no reported injuries, and the building occupants were not displaced.
There was minimal damage to the structure.
