BAYONNE – A mid-morning water main rupture at a Broadway construction project on Oct. 5 sent water as high as 100 feet into the air, according to some witnesses.
Bayonne Municipal Utilities Authority Executive Director Tim Boyle confirmed the break occurred a little before 10:30 a.m. at 14th Street and Broadway, at the site of a recently begun residential development project.
As of noon, the water main was not fixed.
“We had a gusher,” Boyle said at about 1 p.m. “United Water is at the scene, helping the contractor to shut it down.”
