Funeral services took place Sept. 30 at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Jersey City, Marie Canady, 63, of Jersey City. She passed away Sept. 24 at home. Mrs. Canady was a lifelong resident of Jersey City. She was employed by the United States Postal Service as a mail clerk for 29 years. Marie was a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory children Vera A. McGriff, Monique M. Chanakira ( Myles) , Ashanti A. Cedeno, Robert L. Canady , mother Elnora Benthall sisters Eunice Ridley, Brenda Williams, and Hattie Walker, brothers Robert Ross and Leroy Benthall (12) Grandchildren and (2) Great- Grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Canady was predeceased by her companion Price Johnson, father Reddick Benthall, sisters Carrie Gardner and Bernice Beatty and brothers George and Paul Benthall.
