Dear Editor:
The issue of helping poor and working class families is a very hot topic in our country, state and municipalities right now. Everyone claims to love helping poor and working class families yet there is always a flip side to a story. How funds are allocated, teachers are paid, and student resources to name a few are always up for discussions. On Tuesday November 3, voters will head to the polls in Jersey City and Bayonne to vote for Hudson County Executive, and two seats for the New Jersey State Assembly. Without a doubt, I am supporting the re-election campaign of Hudson County Executive Tom Degise, and the two Democratic nominees of the 31st Legislative District, Angela V McKnight and Nicholas Chiarvalloti. These individuals believe in the Democratic party’s principles of helping everyone especially our children who are our future. On the other hand, there are three candidates running with the Hudson County Republican Organization, Ivan Sutherland for Hudson County Executive, and Matthew Kopko and Hermino Mendoza for New Jersey State Assembly.
While I respect these three candidates for running, they do not have the best interest for our district. Republicans are constantly attacking poor and working class families, LGBTQ individuals, womens’ health and looking out to protect the top one percent. Most recently, House Republicans voted to defund Planned Parenthood which will can have a huge impact on poor and working class families in Jersey City and Bayonne. As a Greenville resident and activist, I believe our district needs a team who understands the struggles of poor and working class families in the 31st Legislative District. While the opposition may sound good to some, please do not be fouled and remember they are with the Republican Party which constantly cuts necessary resources to our community. In conclusion, the Hudson County Democratic Organization Team has my full support and I am hoping you will vote for the right team on Tuesday November 3, 2015. I can assure you this team will make sure they look out for poor and working class families and not the top one percent. This is a personal endorsement and does not reflect the College of Democrats of NJ.
