Hoboken police showed kindness in dealing with friend

Dear Editor:
Although I live in another NJ town, this is the second interaction I have had with the Hoboken Police Dept. and I would like to commend them for their outstanding work. In two instances, I contacted the police regarding a Hoboken-based friend who is disabled and lives independently. I asked them to conduct wellness checks on my friend when he was unreachable by phone. They promptly visited my friend and notified me after their visits. In a recent instance, I was out of the state and was very concerned when my friend’s landlord reported he had been missing for over 24 hours. Various officers initiated phone calls to me and spent extensive time answering my questions.
Thankfully, the Police located my friend at a local hospital. Recently, there has been a lot of coverage about police officers’ relationship with the public. I want to thank the Hoboken Police and all the other public servants who routinely do an excellent job, but perhaps do not receive the kudos they deserve.
