Fisher launches campaign

Dear neighbors and friends:
I am excited to officially launch my campaign for City Council to represent Hoboken’s 2nd Ward.
Everyone has that one issue that compels them to take action – whether it is fighting for safety on your streets, more affordable housing, better education, a park in your neighborhood, or something else. In 2011, I discovered that a building was going to be built next to my building on a site that was supposed to be public open space. Monarch was my first issue. With the unanimous support of the Hoboken community once we all understood that we were betrayed by the developer, I was compelled to be involved.
Around that time, I became President of the Hudson Tea condominium association. The title itself means little, but the position suddenly had me communicating with approximately 1,000 neighbors, all of whom had their own list of issues. These ranged from those specific to the HTB community – like our drafty windows – to those reflective of community wide issues like safety on 15th street, irresponsible neighboring development and rising property taxes. And I realized that in my role I could help my neighbors better understand issues and seek changes that were important to them.
From these experiences, what has inspired me to run for City Council include: Seeing how people wanted to be informed about issues that they felt were important and helping them become more informed. Watching the community engage around an important issue once they were better informed. And finally, and most importantly, seeing the impact that more voices can make. The heart of my campaign is making sure the public is never the underdog by giving people the right information about issues important to them at the right time, having more public engagement and advocating on their behalf.
Everyone knows I have been singing Hoboken’s praises since I moved here in 1994. My 2nd Ward neighbors, especially those who have been here for generations, think it is the best that it has ever been and I agree. But our city still faces complex challenges and I believe 2nd Ward residents deserve an experienced leader who can navigate and tackle these challenges while also remaining committed to representing their best interests. I am that leader with more than 22 years of finance, real estate and management experience and four years of already actively engaging with, informing and advocating on behalf of 2nd Ward residents on the issues affecting us most.
This campaign is less about me, and more about what I want to do with and for you. There has never been a more important time in Hoboken to cast your vote. I promise that your vote for me is my vote for you. Please visit my website www.hoboken2ndward.com to learn more about ways you can help support electing me to represent the residents of Hoboken’s 2nd Ward. And please join me on September 17th from 6-8 at Ganache at Hudson Tea for my kickoff event!
Thank you!
