Local towns hold 9/11 memorials Friday

HUDSON COUNTY – Various towns are holding 9/11 ceremonies Friday, Sept. 11. Please confirm all ceremony times and locations with your local city hall.
North Bergen will hold its annual 9/11 memorial service in front of North Bergen High School on Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. The North Bergen High School is at 7417 Kennedy Blvd.
The Town of Guttenberg will host its annual 9-11 candle light ceremony at 7:30 p.m. in front of Town Hall, 6808 Park Ave. A police honor guard will be present along with town dignitaries, and flowers will be presented to relatives of two Guttenberg residents who perished in the attacks. In the event of rain the ceremony will take place in the courtroom on the second floor of the building.
Secaucus will hold its annual 9/11 memorial service on Sept. 11 at approximately 8:20 a.m. The ceremony will take place at the monument in front of the library at 1379 Paterson Plank Rd.
Color guards from the fire and police departments will be in attendance and the Swamibapa Pipe Band will play. Taps will be played after reading of the names of the people from Secaucus who passed on 9/11. Students from the middle and high school will also provide readings and Mayor Michael Gonnelli and Assemblyman Vincent Prieto will be present, along with clergy offering prayers.
Union City’s 9/11 ceremony of remembrance will be observed at 6 p.m. in Liberty Plaza, 30th Street at Palisade Avenue. Everyone in the community is invited to attend.
Weehawken is holding a ceremony at its memorial at 6 p.m., and Hoboken is hosting one at 6 p.m. at Pier A.
