BAYONNE – About 65 of the city’s seniors were treated to their own summer picnic when the city of Bayonne and Mayor James Davis hosted a free barbecue in their honor at the 56th Street Senior Community Center on Sept. 2.
“Mayor’s Barbecue” participants enjoyed hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, macaroni salad, soda, and cake, as well as good conversation, according to Recreation Director Pete Amadeo.
Davis, Municipal Services Director Robert Wondolowski, and Councilman at Large Juan Perez also attended.
The barbecue, which hadn’t been held in seven years, will now become an annual event, Amadeo said.
